Critical infrastructure

A server room that is organised, monitored and documented

We design, build and maintain server rooms and small datacentres for businesses. We take care of power, cooling, networking and backups, so you know what is happening in your rack.

Challenges and solutions

Problems we often solve

Overheating without warning

We fit wireless temperature and humidity sensors in and around the racks. If a limit is exceeded or the air conditioning stops, you get an alert.

Smart Cooling
Untidy, undocumented cabling

We reorganise the rack with patch panels, cable managers and labels. We hand over a network diagram and a port list.

Network Installations
Backups never tested for restore

We set up backups with Veeam or Acronis following the 3-2-1 rule, with one copy off site. We run regular restore tests.

IT Support
Ageing disks and UPS batteries

With a preventive maintenance plan, we check RAID disks, UPS batteries, fans and firmware. We replace parts before they cause downtime.

Equipment Maintenance
Uncontrolled physical access

A camera at the room entrance and card access control record who goes in and when.

A typical project

Example: upgrading a basement server room

A distribution company has two old servers in a basement room with a domestic air conditioner. There is no documentation and backups go to a single external disk.

Illustrative scenario, not a specific client.

  1. Audit

We record equipment, cabling, power use and temperatures. We identify the points that could stop operations.

  2. Upgrade plan

We propose consolidating onto two VMware hosts, shared storage, a UPS with a network card and a dedicated power circuit. The quote is split into phases.

  3. Out-of-hours migration

We move the servers to virtual machines outside working hours. We set up Veeam with a copy at a second location and run a restore test.

  4. Monitoring

LoRaWAN sensors measure temperature and humidity in the rack and send alerts. The status shows on platform.csdynamics.gr.

Frequently asked questions

Do you take on small server rooms or only datacentres?
We work mainly with business server rooms and small installations, from one rack to a few cabinets. For larger projects we work with the facility manager or the colocation provider.
Can we move servers to the cloud?
Yes, where it makes sense. We move workloads to Azure, AWS or Hetzner and keep on site whatever needs low latency or local access. Often the best solution is hybrid.
How does temperature monitoring work?
We fit wireless LoRaWAN sensors that send readings to a gateway and from there to the platform. You set limits and get an alert when they are exceeded.
What does 3-2-1 backup mean?
Three copies of your data, on two different media, with one of them off site. That way a fault, a fire or ransomware cannot wipe out every copy at once.
Can you work without stopping operations?
We schedule work that needs downtime outside working hours or at the weekend. With virtualisation, many upgrades happen without shutting down applications.

Check the state of your server room

We carry out a site survey and give you a list of the points that need attention.
