Security cameras for hotels and Airbnb, with respect for your guests

We install security cameras for hotels, rooms to let and Airbnb properties, only at entrances, in shared areas and outdoors. Never inside rooms or apartments. With phone viewing for owners who are away, and a Starlink or 4G connection where there is no good line.

Security cameras for hotels: where they go and where they do not

In a hotel, guests are paying, among other things, for their privacy. Security cameras for hotels cover the points where there is a real risk to people and property: entrances, reception, the luggage room, parking, back-of-house areas holding stock, and the perimeter.

Cameras never go inside rooms, suites, bathrooms, saunas, changing rooms or showers, nor in staff rest areas. We usually avoid them in room corridors too, because they show who enters which room and when. If there is a specific problem, discuss it first with your GDPR adviser.

  • Main entrance and reception: who comes in, especially at night
  • Luggage room: protecting guests' belongings
  • Parking and vehicle entrance
  • Stores, wine cellar, delivery door and laundry
  • Outer perimeter and garden, without views of neighbouring properties

Airbnb and cameras: the disclosure rules

Since 2024 Airbnb has banned security cameras inside listings, worldwide, even in living rooms or kitchens. Outdoor cameras, for example at the entrance or in the parking area, are allowed only if they are disclosed in the listing and do not look into the home or into areas such as an outdoor shower or sauna. Always check the current policy on Airbnb's site and the terms of every platform you use.

In practice, for an Airbnb apartment in Athens, a camera at the building's front door is a matter for the apartment building and needs a decision of the owners' general assembly. For a detached house or villa, one or two outdoor cameras at the gate and the parking area, disclosed in the listing, cover most needs: you see when guests arrived and whether the property stays secure while empty.

Pool, garden and parking

The pool is a sensitive area: guests swim, sunbathe and have children with them. If a camera is needed there, we set it for the perimeter, the entrance to the area or the equipment, with privacy masks so it does not focus on bathers, and never on showers or changing rooms. In many cases, recording only while the pool is closed is enough.

In the car park, a camera at the vehicle entrance and an overview camera help with damage or theft. The CCTV information sign goes up before every recorded area, and reception holds the full privacy notice for anyone who asks.

The owner watches from afar

Many property owners live in another city or abroad. The manufacturer's app shows live video and recordings on your phone, and sends an alert if someone enters the garden while the property is empty. If you have several properties, you see them all in one app.

We give each user different permissions: the owner sees everything, the manager sees the live entrance view. Cleaning staff are employees: they are informed in writing, and the cameras are not used to check how long they stayed. Footage is kept for up to 15 days, unless an incident is recorded.

Villas without a good line: Starlink or 4G

Cameras without internet record locally, but you cannot view them remotely. In villas in remote areas, Starlink gives a fast connection for both guests and cameras, while a 4G line can stay on as a backup. At a house in Saronida we installed Starlink with custom mounts together with a camera system.

We install cameras across Attica, and Starlink all over Greece, including the islands. A UPS for the recorder, router and Starlink keeps the system running through short power cuts. For a property on an island, tell us about the project and we will say what we can take on.

What we make sure of at every property

A plan with no cameras inside

Coverage of entrances, shared and outdoor areas only. What is permitted, and what the platforms require.

A list for your listing

We give you the position and field of view of every outdoor camera, so you can disclose it correctly in the listing.

Viewing and alerts

Live video on your phone and an alert when someone enters the garden of the empty property.

Connected anywhere

Starlink or 4G for villas without a fixed line, with a UPS for power cuts.

Separate guest Wi-Fi

Cameras on their own network, guest Wi-Fi on another. No guest can reach the recorder.

How we work

Step by step, from survey to the season

  1. Survey or estimate from photos

We look at entrances, shared areas, outdoor spaces and the internet connection. For distant properties we start from photos and a floor plan.

  2. Proposal with clear limits

Camera positions and fields of view, what stays unrecorded, signage, and whether Starlink or 4G is needed.

  3. Installation off-season

Ideally before you open or on days with no bookings, so guests are not disturbed.

  4. Settings and accounts

Privacy masks, alerts, retention of up to 15 days, users with different permissions.

  5. Remote handover

We set up the app on your phone, even if you are abroad, and show you how to find an incident.

Are cameras allowed in an Airbnb property?
Under Airbnb's policy since 2024, indoor cameras are banned in all listings. Outdoor cameras are allowed if they are disclosed in the listing and do not look into the home or into areas such as an outdoor shower. Always check the platform's current policy before installation.
Can I put a camera in the living room of the flat I rent out?
No, not while the flat hosts guests. The inside of the property is the guest's private space; cameras there are banned by Airbnb and breach the guest's privacy. To protect the property, use a camera at the outside entrance and an alarm with door sensors.
How many cameras does a small hotel need?
A small hotel of 15 to 30 rooms is usually covered by 6 to 12 cameras: entrances, reception, luggage room, parking, stores, delivery door and perimeter. The number depends on how many entrances there are, the outdoor area, and whether there is a restaurant or pool.
How much do security cameras for a hotel cost?
The cost depends on the number of cameras, the cabling distances between buildings and outdoor areas, whether a network and rack already exist, and whether Starlink or 4G will be needed. We offer a free site survey in Attica, or an estimate from photos and a floor plan for properties outside Attica.
Can I view the villa's cameras from abroad?
Yes, as long as the property has an internet connection. The manufacturer's app works from any country. If the villa has no fixed line, Starlink or a 4G line solves the problem.
Is a camera at the hotel pool allowed?
The pool is an area with a heightened expectation of privacy. If there is a security reason, the camera covers the perimeter or the entrance to the area, with privacy masks, or records only when the pool is closed. Showers and changing rooms are never recorded. For your specific case, ask your legal adviser.
How long are hotel recordings kept?
Up to 15 days, with automatic deletion. If an incident is recorded, such as a stolen suitcase or damage to a car, the clip is exported and kept for as long as the case needs it. Only the people management nominates can access the footage.
