Covering long distances
Fibre, intermediate switches and wireless bridges for cameras far from the building.
In Mesogeia distances are long, power does not always reach the edge of the plot and the internet line is often weak. We design cameras that work in those conditions, for homes, wineries and warehouses.
CCTV installation in Mesogeia starts with three questions that rarely come up in town. How far is the furthest camera from the recorder? Is there power at that point? And is the internet line good enough for you to watch the cameras when you are away?
A network cable reaches about 100 metres. On a plot in Markopoulo or at a warehouse in Spata, distances are often longer. There we use fibre in conduit, an intermediate PoE switch in a weatherproof cabinet, or a point-to-point wireless bridge between buildings and masts.
A survey in this area is done on foot, around the whole plot. We note existing conduits, points with power, high spots for masts and where it gets dark at night.

In detached houses in Koropi, Paiania and the settlements around them, the house often sits in the middle of a large plot with the gate far from the front door. You need a camera at the gate for faces and number plates, cameras on the sides of the house and, depending on the plot, cameras on sheds, stables or the pool plant room.
Animals are the most common cause of false alerts outside town: dogs, cats, foxes, birds. We use cameras that tell people and vehicles apart and, on long perimeters, combine them with Ajax perimeter alarm detectors.
Further south, in Saronida, we installed Starlink with custom mounts and a camera system at a private house. It was a typical East Attica job: a house with a garden, the need for a connection that holds up and cameras the owner can watch from afar.
Cameras record locally and do not need the internet to work. They do need it for you to watch them on your phone, and what matters there is the line's upload speed, not download. In many parts of Mesogeia VDSL offers very low upload and remote video stutters.
In those cases we set up a second, lighter stream for phone viewing while recording stays at full resolution. Where even that is not enough, we recommend Starlink or a 4G/5G connection, which we also install.
Wineries in Mesogeia usually have a shop with visitors, a store with barrels and equipment, and vineyards around the buildings. Cameras cover the vehicle entrance, the shop, the store and the machinery, not the workers in the vineyard. The same cabling can also serve temperature and humidity sensors for the cellar.
Around the airport, in Spata and Paiania, warehouses and distribution centres need cameras on loading bays, in the lorry yard and at doors, with night vision for shifts that start before dawn. There we recommend managed switches and an NVR in a locked rack, with a UPS.
A long cable in open ground acts like an aerial in a storm. A surge from a nearby lightning strike can burn out a camera, switch and recorder together. On outdoor runs we fit surge protection and proper earthing and, over long distances, we prefer fibre, which carries no current.
Dust from dirt roads and fields settles on lenses and in equipment fans. Outdoor cabinets must be sealed, and lenses need cleaning more often than in town, especially after the summer.
Fibre, intermediate switches and wireless bridges for cameras far from the building.
Settings for weak lines and, where needed, Starlink or 4G/5G.
Surge protection, earthing and UPS for outdoor cable runs.
Person and vehicle detection, so animals do not trigger alerts.
On the same network, LoRaWAN sensors for cellars, fridges and stores.
Send photos and a map screenshot of the plot. That way we arrive at the survey with an idea of distances and positions.
We walk the plot and check power, conduits, high points and the speed of your internet line.
We propose where cable goes, where fibre, where a wireless bridge, and how you will watch the cameras remotely.
After installation we check the image and alerts in the evening too, which is the most critical time.
Phone app, accounts, notice signs and instructions for exporting a clip.
