CCTV installation in Piraeus, from Akti Miaouli to Keratsini

In Piraeus a camera has to survive salt and wind, see clearly against the glare of the sea and be reachable from wherever the person in charge happens to be. We design systems for offices, warehouses and shops across the area.

CCTV installation in Piraeus: sea, port and city

CCTV installation in Piraeus covers very different premises in the same city. Shipping offices on upper floors along Akti Miaouli, warehouses and workshops in Keratsini and Drapetsona, shops on Tsamadou Street and around the market, houses in Kastella. Each one needs a different camera and a different approach.

What they have in common is the sea. Salt corrodes screws, brackets and connectors within months if they are not chosen correctly, and damp air gets into any box that is not sealed. So at coastal points we fit IP67-rated cameras, stainless hardware and sealed junction boxes.

In Nikaia and central Piraeus the picture is closer to Athens: shops on the ground floor of apartment blocks, pharmacies, mini markets and small offices. The challenge there is cabling in old buildings and keeping the camera off the street. On the same visit we can look at the shop's network or Wi-Fi, since the cameras run on it.

Shipping offices and agencies

In shipping offices cameras usually go together with access control. One camera at the floor entrance, one at reception and one in the room with the server and the archives, plus cards or codes on the doors. That way you know who entered which room without putting cameras above employees' desks.

Many companies in the area have managers who travel or work outside office hours. Phone viewing runs over a secure VPN rather than open ports on the router, so the cameras do not become a way into the office network. As an IT company we set this up together with the rest of the network.

Warehouses, workshops and the port zone

Keratsini, Perama and Nikaia are home to warehouses, workshops and small units with yards and roller doors. Cameras there need to cover loading bays, roller doors, the yard and the vehicle entrance, often with poor lighting at night.

For wide openings we prefer bullet cameras with varifocal lenses, so the view can be adjusted on site, plus infrared or full-colour night imaging. When the warehouse is some distance from the office, we link it with fibre or a wireless bridge and you see all cameras on one recorder or in one app.

  • Loading bay cameras angled to show the lorry plate and the load
  • Motion alerts only for the yard and only outside working hours
  • Recorder in a locked rack, away from the warehouse door

Kastella, Pasalimani and Mikrolimano

For houses in Kastella and restaurants around Pasalimani and Mikrolimano the issue is different. Cameras often face the sea, where the sun's glare darkens the image. We choose cameras with true WDR, which show both a face in the shade and the bright background clearly.

In restaurants the cameras cover the entrance, the till and the terrace, not the public promenade or the beach. On the slopes of Kastella strong winds shake light brackets, so we fix cameras to solid points to keep the image steady.

Maintenance in a coastal environment

In Piraeus the lens quickly collects a thin film of salt and the image goes hazy, especially at night. We recommend regular cleaning and a check of outdoor connections, ideally before winter. At the same time we check the drive, the firmware and that automatic deletion is working.

For boats and equipment on board vessels we work with our sister company CS Maritime, which focuses on maritime technology. We cover the premises on land.

What we watch for in Piraeus

Cameras that last at the port

Corrosion-resistant hardware

Stainless screws and brackets, sealed boxes and IP67 cameras for points close to the water.

A clear image facing the sea

WDR cameras that show faces even when the sun is glaring off the water behind them.

Cameras and doors together

Combined with access control in offices, so you know who came in and when.

Viewing without open ports

Access from your phone or from abroad via VPN, with an account for each user.

Several sites, one system

Office and warehouse on one recorder or in one app, over fibre, a wireless bridge or VPN.

How we work

From survey to handover

  1. Site survey

We look at positions, light, exposure to wind and salt and where the recorder will sit. On large sites we walk round with the warehouse manager.

  2. Design and quote

You get a list of cameras with each one's view, the cabling and the materials for outdoor points.

  3. Installation without disruption

In warehouses we work around loading times, and in offices outside peak hours.

  4. Network and remote access

We put the cameras on a separate network and set up the VPN and the app on the phones of those who need it.

  5. Handover and signage

We hand over signs, passwords and instructions for exporting a clip when the police or your insurer asks for one.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can't find what you're looking for? Call us or send us a message.

Which cameras hold up close to the sea?
Outdoor cameras rated IP67, with a metal body and stainless screws. Just as important are sealed boxes at the connections and a cable route that does not collect water. A cheap camera at a coastal point usually fails at the connectors, not the body.
Can I view the office cameras while I travel?
Yes. We set up access via VPN or the manufacturer's app with secure settings, and everyone has their own account. The office line needs enough upload speed, which we check beforehand.
How much does CCTV installation for a warehouse in Piraeus cost?
It depends on the number of cameras, the distances, mounting height, yard lighting and whether cabling already exists. Warehouses often need a cherry picker or scaffolding for high points. After a free site survey we give you an itemised quote.
Can a camera cover the loading bay where staff work?
A camera may cover the loading bay to protect goods and premises, as long as employees are informed in advance and it is not used to judge their performance. No cameras in changing rooms, toilets or rest areas. For specific cases ask your legal adviser or the Data Protection Authority.
Can my restaurant camera in Mikrolimano see the promenade?
Only the strictly necessary strip in front of the entrance. We point the cameras at your till, entrance and terrace and mask the public space. No audio is recorded.
Do you install cameras on boats?
For boats and ships our sister company CS Maritime, part of Innovation Labs Group, handles maritime systems. We take care of premises on land, such as offices, warehouses and shops.
How often does a system near the sea need maintenance?
We suggest at least one check a year, ideally before winter. We clean lenses, check seals and screws, the recorder's drive and the firmware. Very exposed points may need it more often.
