Starlink installation in Attica: why being close matters

A Starlink installation in Athens and Attica has an advantage an island job does not: we can come and see the site before we quote. We go up on the roof, check obstructions with the Starlink app and work out where the cable will run. That way the price we agree does not change on the day.

Being nearby helps afterwards too. If you want the router moved, a mesh point added in the garden or cameras connected to the same network, we do it on a short follow-up visit. On the same visit we can look at the rest of your network, Wi-Fi or security system, as we are also a licensed security-systems installer.

Starlink is not only for remote villages. In Sepolia, inside Athens, we installed a Starlink Standard at a private house with custom mounts. There are streets where fibre has not yet reached the building or VDSL is slow, and Starlink is a practical answer there.

Areas of Attica where we install Starlink

We cover the whole of Attica. Most enquiries come from areas where houses are spread out, the phone line runs a long way from the street cabinet or mobile signal is unreliable indoors.

  • Mesogeia: Koropi, Paiania, Markopoulo, Keratea, Spata, Artemida, with many detached houses, plots and commercial premises.
  • Northern suburbs and North-East Attica: Dionysos, Agios Stefanos, Afidnes, Kapandriti, Varnavas, Marathon, Nea Makri.
  • Southern suburbs and the coast: Varkiza, Lagonisi, Saronida, Anavyssos, Palaia Fokaia, Lavrio, Sounio.
  • West Attica and Thriasio: Aspropyrgos, Elefsina, Mandra, Megara, with warehouses and industrial units.
  • Central Athens and Piraeus: apartment blocks and offices that need Starlink as a main or backup line.

Starlink on an apartment-block roof: what you need from the building

Most people in Athens live in flats, so the dish goes on the shared roof terrace. That needs the consent of the co-owners under the building's regulations. Usually a decision by the building administrator or the owners' general assembly is enough. If in doubt, ask the administrator before ordering the kit.

In dense neighbourhoods the main issue is the surrounding buildings. A taller block next door or opposite can cut off part of the sky, so we raise the dish on a mast or place it at the clearest point of the roof. We do not drill through the waterproofing: we use a ballast mount or fix to the parapet or an existing wall.

The cable comes down the antenna conduit or service shaft where there is room, otherwise in trunking on the façade or stairwell. The aim is for it to stay out of sight and out of everyone's way.

  • Approval from the administrator or general assembly
  • Roof access on the day of installation
  • A clear route or conduit for the cable down to the flat
  • A power socket where the router will go

Holiday homes in East Attica: a connection you can manage from afar

Many holiday homes in Saronida, Lagonisi, Nea Makri and Marathon have no landline, or one that is not worth paying for all year. With Starlink you have internet when you are there, and cameras, alarm and smart devices online while the house is closed.

Pine trees are the usual obstruction on coastal plots. We look for a spot above the treetops, often the highest corner of the roof or a mast, and choose mounting hardware that copes with salt air. That is exactly what we did at a private house in Saronida: Starlink on custom mounts, with cameras on the same network.

For large plots we add mesh points or an outdoor access point so there is signal by the pool and in the garden. If you do not use the house in winter, Starlink offers pause or standby options depending on the plan, with terms listed on starlink.com/gr.

Businesses and industrial sites in Attica

In Afidnes we installed Starlink at the MarsTissue SA plant, together with telephony, on custom mounts and connected to the factory's Wi-Fi and network. On sites like this the job does not end at the dish: the signal has to reach offices, warehouses and production lines.

For offices in Athens and Piraeus, Starlink is often used as a second line. It is connected alongside the existing line on a failover router, so tills, phones and invoicing keep working when the main line drops. See our Starlink for business page for more.

What you gain from a Starlink installer based in Athens

Survey before the quote

In Attica we can see the site in person, so the quote is based on real measurements rather than guesswork.

One team for everything

Starlink, structured cabling, Wi-Fi and cameras from the same team, with no need to coordinate several contractors.

Easy return visits

If the router needs moving, the mesh extending or a new device adding, we come back without you waiting for our next trip to your area.

Used to apartment blocks

We know how to run cable through shared areas without damage and how to mount the dish without touching the waterproofing.

How we work

How a Starlink installation in Attica works

  1. Get in touch

Call us or send photos of the roof terrace or roof. They are often enough to tell what mount and cabling are needed.

  2. Free site survey

Where there are obstructions, long distances or a business involved, we visit. We check the sky, the cable route and the router position.

  3. Written quote and kit

We give you a written quote for labour and materials. We help you order the right kit from Starlink and activate the subscription.

  4. Installation

We fit the mount, dish, cable in trunking and router, and add mesh or Ethernet where agreed. We test speed in every room.

  5. Handover

We show you the Starlink app and how to check the connection. For anything that comes up, you call the same number.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you come to install Starlink in Athens?
In Attica we can usually book a visit within the same week, depending on our schedule and kit availability. If the kit has arrived and the building has approved it, the installation is a single visit of a few hours.
Do I need permission from my apartment block for Starlink on the roof?
The roof terrace is usually a shared area, so you need the co-owners' consent under the building regulations. In practice a general assembly decision or the administrator's approval is usually enough. We are not lawyers, so for specific cases ask your administrator or legal adviser.
Is Starlink worth it in Athens if I already have VDSL or fibre?
If you have fibre that works well, a household usually does not need Starlink. It is worth it when VDSL is slow or unstable, when fibre has not reached the building, or when a business wants a second line for failover.
How much does a Starlink installation in Attica cost?
The cost depends on the type of mount, the height of the building, the distance from dish to router and whether mesh or failover is needed. In Attica there are none of the travel costs an island job carries. The kit and subscription are charged by Starlink at the prices on starlink.com/gr, and for the labour we give a free estimate from photos or after a site survey.
Will tall buildings around me block the signal?
They can, especially if your building is lower than its neighbours. The Starlink app shows how much of the sky is clear, and if it is not enough we raise the dish on a mast or move it elsewhere on the roof. We check before fixing anything.
Do you drill through the roof waterproofing?
No, we avoid making holes in the waterproofing. We use a ballast mount or fix to the parapet or a wall, and the cable runs through existing conduits or sealed entry points.
Can Starlink at a holiday home also connect cameras?
Yes. Many holiday-home owners in East Attica use it mainly to view cameras and manage the alarm remotely. We set up cameras, NVR and Starlink on one network, as we did in Saronida.
Do you install Starlink in Mesogeia, Marathon and Lavrio?
Yes, we cover all of Attica, from Megara to Sounio and from Piraeus to Oropos. Areas outside the urban fabric are also where Starlink is needed most often.
