Starlink in the Peloponnese

Starlink Installation Peloponnese: from Loutraki to Mani

A Starlink installation in the Peloponnese comes with its own challenges: stone houses with thick walls, villages on steep slopes, olive groves and farms far from any cable. We drive from Athens to every prefecture, from Corinthia to Messinia and Achaia.

Starlink installation in the Peloponnese: how we organise the job

The Peloponnese has one big advantage over the islands: our van can reach everywhere. Corinthia is very close to Athens, Argolida, Arcadia, Laconia and Messinia are reached via the Moreas motorway, and Achaia and Ilia via the Olympia Odos.

Because we travel by road, we carry poles of different heights, wall and roof mounts, cable and mesh equipment. If on site it turns out that a different solution is needed from the one we planned, we usually have it in the van already and the job is finished in the same visit.

Before the trip we ask for photos or a short video of the house, the roof and the surroundings. That lets us choose the kit, the mount and the cable route in advance, and tell you clearly what the Starlink installation will include and what affects the cost, travel included.

  • Corinthia: Loutraki, Corinth, Xylokastro, mountain Corinthia
  • Argolida: Nafplio, Argos, Ermionida, Porto Heli
  • Arcadia: Tripoli, Kynouria, Gortynia villages such as Dimitsana and Stemnitsa
  • Laconia and Mani: Sparta, Gythio, Areopoli, Monemvasia
  • Messinia: Kalamata, Pylos, Koroni, Methoni
  • Achaia and Ilia: Patras, Aigio, Kalavryta, Pyrgos, Amaliada

A real installation: Starlink and mesh in a house in Loutraki

At a private house in Loutraki we installed Starlink and a mesh Wi-Fi network that covers every floor. It is a very common scenario in Corinthia: a house on more than one level, where the kit's router, placed in one spot, cannot serve every room.

Concrete slabs between floors cut Wi-Fi significantly. The answer is not a more powerful router but access points on each floor working as a single network, with one name and one password. Wherever possible we link them with Ethernet cable, so speed is not shared over the air.

The same applies to holiday homes in Ermionida, villas in Messinia or two-storey houses in Achaia. If your house has floors, a basement or a garden you want covered, mesh is designed together with the installation, not added later as a fix.

Stone houses, Mani tower houses and mountain villages

Stone walls half a metre thick or more are Wi-Fi's worst enemy. In houses like these you almost always need an access point per room or per level. To route the cable we prefer existing openings, such as chimneys, old conduits or window frames, rather than new holes in the stone.

In Mani and other traditional settlements there are often rules about what may be visible on façades and roofs. It is wise to check with the municipal planning office before installation. We look for a spot where the dish cannot be seen from the street, for example behind a parapet or on a low pole in the yard.

In the mountains of Arcadia and Achaia we watch for something many people overlook: in Greece the Starlink dish usually points roughly north. A house built on a south-facing slope, with the mountain behind it, can be obstructed by the slope itself. In that case a taller pole or a position further from the house solves the problem.

Agritourism, olive groves and rural businesses

A guesthouse or a farm that hosts visitors needs Wi-Fi in the rooms, the courtyard and by the pool. We separate the guest network from the business network, so bookings, the POS and cameras do not share a connection with customers' phones.

At olive mills, packing plants and warehouses in Messinia, Laconia or Ilia, the connection is needed for issuing myData invoices, email and camera monitoring. When the warehouse is some distance from the main building, we carry the internet over outdoor network cable or a point-to-point wireless link.

  • Separate Wi-Fi for guests and for the business
  • Coverage in courtyards, pools and outdoor areas
  • Wireless link to warehouses and second buildings
  • Failover with existing DSL or 4G, where available
  • Cameras and alarm on the same network

Wind and salt on the Peloponnese coast

On the coasts of Mani, Messinia and Argolida, houses are exposed to strong winds and salt. We use mounts and fixings that resist corrosion and brace the pole so it does not sway, because a dish that moves loses signal.

In summer, heat matters just as much. We place the router and power supply in a shaded, ventilated spot, not in a closed cupboard next to a sun-baked wall.

In practice

What a proper installation in the Peloponnese gives you

One trip, job done

With photos and video beforehand, we arrive with the right materials and the installation is completed in a single visit.

A mount for every building

Tiled roof, concrete terrace, stone wall or yard. We choose a mount that suits the building and stands up to the wind.

Internet across the whole property

With a wireless link or outdoor cable, the signal reaches warehouses, guest rooms and second buildings.

Remote support

Many owners live in Athens. If something stops working, we check remotely first and travel only when we need to.

How we work

The steps to Starlink in the Peloponnese

  1. Photos and video

You send us pictures of the roof, the walls and the sky around the house. If you already have the kit, also run the obstruction check in the Starlink app.

  2. Plan and estimate

We propose the kit, the mount, the cable route and, if needed, mesh or a link to other buildings. We send you a written estimate.

  3. Scheduling the trip

We agree a day that suits you and, if you will not be there, arrange with someone to let us in.

  4. Installation and measurements

We fix the dish, route the cable, set up the network and measure speed in every room.

  5. Handover

We show you the app and what to do if the power or the connection drops. From then on we are a phone call away.

How much does a Starlink installation in the Peloponnese cost?
The labour cost depends on the distance from Athens, the type of mount, the length and difficulty of the cable route, and whether you need mesh or a link to other buildings. A house in Corinthia with a simple wall mount is a very different job from a stone tower house in Mani. The kit and subscription are bought from Starlink, and their prices are on starlink.com/gr. Send us photos for a free estimate.
Do you travel to remote villages in Mani or Arcadia?
Yes. We install Starlink across the whole Peloponnese, including villages far from the towns. We only need car access to the house or close to it, and to know in advance if the road has any restrictions.
Do I need mesh Wi-Fi in a stone house?
Almost always. Thick stone walls block Wi-Fi far more than modern walls do. With one access point per level or per main room, you get a stable connection throughout the house.
How does the internet reach a warehouse or olive mill away from the house?
For distances up to about 100 metres we use outdoor network cable. For longer distances, or where cable cannot be run, we set up a point-to-point wireless link with two antennas facing each other. That way one Starlink dish serves the whole property.
Can Starlink run in a building with no mains electricity?
Yes, with a correctly sized solar and battery system. Consumption varies by kit, with the Mini drawing less than the Standard, and the official figures are published by Starlink. We help you choose the kit based on your power system.
Is Starlink worth it if the village has 4G signal?
It depends on how stable the 4G is and how you use the connection. If you work from home, make video calls or host guests, Starlink usually gives a steadier connection than weak 4G. For businesses the two can be combined with failover.
Can you do the installation while I am in Athens?
Yes, as long as someone can let us in and there is power at the house. We agree the dish and router positions in advance, send you photos of the finished job and activate the connection with you over the phone.
