Checks at several spots
We check obstructions on the roof, in the yard and in clearings before deciding where the dish goes.
Starlink installation in Corfu, Lefkada, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Ithaca and Paxos, for villas in the hills and olive groves, village houses and boats in the marinas. On the green Ionian islands the big issue is trees, and that is where our work starts.
A Starlink installation in Corfu and the other Ionian Islands differs from the bare islands of the Aegean. Here houses are often built on slopes, inside olive groves or among cypresses and pines. Wind is rarely the problem. The problem is that the dish cannot see enough sky.
Towns and large villages have fixed lines, but villas in the hills of northern Corfu, houses inland on Kefalonia and Zakynthos, or homes on Ithaca and Paxos often have slow connections. There, Starlink provides internet for remote work, for guests in holiday lets and for cameras you watch from abroad.

In Greece the Starlink dish usually faces north and needs a wide, clear patch of sky. An olive tree next to the house or a cypress on the north side of the plot is enough to cause short dropouts that show up in video calls and streaming. The same applies to houses on a south-facing slope with the hill rising behind them.
We always start with the Starlink app's obstruction check, at more than one spot on the plot. Then we choose the most practical fix:
The Ionian Islands are among the rainiest parts of Greece, which is why they are so green. In very heavy rain Starlink's speed can drop briefly. No installation can fix that, but a dish with a clear view copes better than one already losing signal to trees.
Damp matters for materials. We leave a drip loop in the cable before every entry so water runs off outside, seal the entry points and keep connections indoors. For masts in exposed spots we look at earthing and surge protection for the equipment inside the house.
Ionian villas often have large gardens, a pool, a guest house or a caretaker's cottage. The kit's Wi-Fi does not reach that far. We run cable to the outbuildings and install outdoor access points or mesh with wired backhaul, so speed holds up from one spot to the next.
For holiday lets we set up a separate guest network and, if you like, cameras at the entrance and parking. Many owners live abroad, so we configure everything to be managed remotely as well.
Lefkada, with its marinas and bays such as Nidri and Vlychos, and Corfu, with Gouvia marina, are among the largest charter bases for sailing yachts and catamarans in Greece. Many fleets want Starlink on board, because guests expect internet at anchor too.
On a sailing yacht the dish usually goes on a stern pole or arch, clear of sails and rigging. Power draw matters, as the boat is often off shore power, which is why the Starlink Mini is a common choice. For fleets we suggest the same installation on every boat to keep maintenance simple. We work with CS Maritime, and you will find more on our Starlink on boats page.
Lefkada is connected to the mainland by road, so we drive over with the van and all materials, masts included. For Corfu we take the ferry from Igoumenitsa, for Kefalonia and Zakynthos from Kyllini, and for Paxos and Ithaca we continue from the nearest ports. For light jobs we fly to Corfu, Kefalonia or Zakynthos.
As on all the islands, we start with an estimate from photos and configure the equipment in Athens, so our time on the island goes on the installation. Where possible we combine jobs on neighbouring islands to share travel costs.
We check obstructions on the roof, in the yard and in clearings before deciding where the dish goes.
A mast of the right height or a spot on the plot, so olives and cypresses do not cut the signal.
Drip loops, sealed entries and indoor connections for the damp winter.
Wired access points in the garden, by the pool and in outbuildings.
The same simple installation on every boat in the fleet, with power draw suited to time at anchor.
Send photos of the house and surrounding trees and, if you have the kit, the app's obstruction check from two or three spots.
We propose a position, mast height or cable route and a coverage plan, with a written estimate that includes travel.
We configure the router and access points in Athens and set a date around the ferries or the drive.
We fit the mount or mast, run the cable, recheck obstructions and test speed in the house and garden.
We show you the app and keep remote access if you wish, so we can help without another trip.
