Starlink Installation Thessaloniki and Northern Greece

Starlink installation in Thessaloniki and across Northern Greece, with a focus on factories, warehouses and buildings that operate all year. We have already set up industrial Starlink with telephony in Kavala, and we design every installation for winters with snow, ice and north wind.

Starlink installation in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece: who it is for

In Northern Greece most Starlink requests are not about holiday homes but about workplaces: food-processing plants, warehouses, haulage firms, farms, quarries and construction sites, often outside the towns and far from fibre. For many of them Starlink becomes the main connection, and for others a second line alongside an existing one.

We work across the Thessaloniki prefecture, from Sindos and Kalochori to Lagadas and Epanomi, in Kavala, Drama, Serres and Xanthi, in Kozani and Ptolemaida, and in Epirus, from Ioannina to Zagori and Metsovo. We also install at homes, especially in mountain villages where there is no other connection.

Select Fish SA, Kavala: industrial Starlink with telephony

For Select Fish SA in Kavala we installed Starlink at an industrial site, with mounts and supports built for that specific building, and routed the company's telephony over the satellite connection.

That job shows what is different at an industrial site. Roofs are often panel or sheet metal and will not take the mounts used on houses. Distances from the dish position to the office or rack are long, and the connection has to serve phones, computers and machines at the same time.

That is why we always start with a site survey or detailed photos of the roof, the equipment room and the route between them. The support is designed so it does not pierce the roof unnecessarily and withstands the wind, and telephony is configured so calls take priority over other traffic.

Factories, warehouses and logistics

A warehouse in Kalochori or a plant in the Sindos industrial area cannot be left offline: barcode terminals, the ERP, myData invoicing and contact with drivers all stop. There, Starlink usually goes in as a second line with automatic failover, so a fault on the main connection does not halt the shift.

At sites without a good fixed line, such as farms, quarries or rural plants around Drama and Serres, Starlink is the main connection. In that case we build the company's full network around it.

  • Carrying the signal from the dish to the rack over network cable or fibre
  • Industrial Wi-Fi for terminals and handheld devices in the warehouse
  • Separate VLANs for cameras, telephony and offices
  • Site-to-site VPN to head office or other branches
  • A UPS so the connection rides through short power cuts

Snow, ice and cold: what changes in the installation

Drama, Kozani, the mountains of Xanthi and Ioannina have winters that test any outdoor installation. The Starlink dish has a snow-melt function, but when it runs, power consumption rises. If the connection is fed from a UPS or solar, we size them with that in mind.

In Thessaloniki the Vardaris wind blows hard and for days. A pole without proper bracing sways, and a dish that moves loses signal. We work out pole height and bracing based on how exposed the spot is to the wind.

  • The dish sits higher than the level where snow builds up on the roof or ground
  • We avoid spots under roof edges, where snow slides off and icicles hang
  • Metal cable fixings instead of plastic ties that snap in the cold
  • Sealed wall penetrations so meltwater does not get into the wall
  • Earthing of the mount where the electrical installation allows it

How we schedule trips to the north

We are based in Athens, so every installation in Northern Greece is planned in advance. Using photos, video or a video call we choose the kit and the support, prepare the materials and configure as much network equipment as possible before we set off, so on site only mounting and testing remain.

If a cherry picker, scaffolding or access to a factory roof with special safety rules is needed, we agree it before booking a date. For mountain areas we recommend installing in autumn, before the first snow. Where possible we combine jobs in the same area, which helps keep travel costs reasonable.

For businesses

Why trust us with Starlink in Northern Greece

Experience at industrial sites

We have installed Starlink with telephony at industrial sites in Kavala and in Afidnes, Attica, with custom-made supports.

Starlink, network and telephony together

We do not just leave a dish and a router. We connect Starlink to the company's network, phones and failover.

Cameras in the same visit

As a licensed security-systems installer, we can set up cameras and alarms with remote viewing over Starlink.

Remote support

After installation, most network issues are checked and fixed remotely, without waiting for a visit.

How we work

From first contact to a connected business

  1. Recording your needs

You tell us how many users, phones and devices will connect, whether there is another line and where the network equipment is.

  2. Photos or site survey

We look at the roof, the route to the rack and possible obstructions. For large sites we arrange a survey.

  3. Proposal and materials

We send a written proposal covering kit, support, cabling, telephony and failover. Once approved, we prepare materials and configuration.

  4. On-site installation

We mount the dish, run the cables, connect the router, phones and cameras, and test the failover.

  5. Monitoring

For the first few days we monitor the connection and make any corrections needed, remotely or on site.

Frequently asked questions

Do you install Starlink in Thessaloniki, or only in Athens?
We install Starlink all over Greece, so in Thessaloniki and the rest of Northern Greece too. We are based in Athens, so we schedule the trip with you. Remote support after installation works wherever you are.
How much does a Starlink installation at a factory or warehouse cost?
At an industrial site the cost is driven mainly by the support (often custom-made), the distance from the dish to the rack, whether a cherry picker is needed, and whether telephony, failover, Wi-Fi or cameras are added. Travel from Athens is also factored in. We do not quote without seeing the site, but an estimate from photos or a site survey is free.
Can the company's telephony run over Starlink?
Yes. Starlink latency is low enough for VoIP telephony. We did it at Select Fish SA in Kavala and MarsTissue SA in Afidnes. What matters is that the router prioritises calls and, ideally, that there is failover to a second line.
Does Starlink work with snow in Drama, Kozani or Ioannina?
Yes. The dish has a snow-melt function, though it increases power consumption. Very heavy snowfall can cause a temporary drop in speed. The right position, above the level where snow collects and away from roof edges, makes a big difference.
Is Starlink worth it for a business that already has fibre?
As a second line, yes. A cable or street-cabinet fault can leave a business offline for hours or days. Because Starlink does not use the same ground network, it makes a very good backup connection with automatic switchover.
Which Starlink kit suits an industrial site?
For most fixed installations the Standard is enough. The Flat High Performance is more rugged and has a wider field of view but draws more power, and is preferred in demanding conditions or on vehicles. We recommend a kit based on your use, the site and the Starlink plan.
How quickly can you get to Northern Greece?
It depends on our job schedule and the weather. Once you send photos and approve the proposal, we give you a specific date. If the need is urgent, tell us from the start so we can see what is possible.
What information do you need to give an estimate?
Photos of the roof and the spot you have in mind for the dish, of the room where the network equipment sits and of the route between them. Also how many users and phones you have, and whether there is already another internet connection.
